On behalf of Dick Vaughn, Corresponding Secretary for the East Montgomery Neighborhood Association (EMNA), we are passing along this information about an upcoming meeting that will address plans to reduce congestion on Vaughn and Taylor roads. Mr. Vaughn’s message is as follows:
EMNA Voting Members,
Traffic on Taylor and Vaughn Roads has been the topic of our recent correspondence. Many of you are in favor sending letters to elected state and city officials requesting that actions be taken to reduce congestion on these roads. (The Alabama Department of Transportation [ALDOT] is responsible for Taylor Road, and the City of Montgomery for Vaughn Road.)
Before letters are written, it may be prudent to develop a clear understanding of what, if any, plans the state and city have. We plan to do so at the July 14 meeting of the EMNA.
Robert Smith, Director of Planning for the City, will be there to address Vaughn Road. A representative from ALDOT will be there to talk about Taylor.
PLEASE NOTE: This meeting will not be an opportunity for us to yell at the speakers! Alliance members should conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner. This meeting is an opportunity to increase our knowledge, not dump our buckets.
To make the most of this opportunity, it may be helpful to provide the speakers with questions we would like to have answered. If you want to submit questions, please send them to me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call me at 414-0017.
The membership meeting will start at 7:00 PM on July 14. The meeting place is the First Christian Church at 1705 Taylor Road (corner of Taylor and Berryhill Roads).
If this is a topic that interests you, please make plans to attend this meeting.
